Thermally Broken Sliding Hatch
Supplied to California State University, USA. This over 130” long hatch travels its length on tracks fixed to the roof. Also, the sliding unit has an electrically operated solid top and thermal break.
GLAZED SLIDING SMOKE VENTILATORS
Surespan manufactured an electrically driven 4610 (181” ) x 1955 (77”) glazed hatch for Great Portland Street in London. Additionally to its main purpose, which is access, it serves also as a smoke ventilation unit. Moreover, the large cover provides a 7m² free air flow.
LARGE EXTERNAL RAIL SLIDING HATCH
Supplied to Qatar, United Arab Emirates for the Car Building Extension Works Project. This 3144 (123″) x 1235mm (48″) solid top electrically operated sliding hatch travels its length on tracks fixed to the roof.
FIXED RAIL SLIDING ACCESS
Supplied to Gartsherrie Engineering Ltd. Coatbridge, Scotland. This 3500 (137″) x 4000 (157″) biomass sliding cover features fixed external rails and electric operation. A further two sliding covers were supplied sized 2500 x 4000 and 1500 x 4000mm
Telescopic sliding covers are ideal for smaller sizes, such as those that only require access for maintenance personnel or end users. These are available in sizes up to 750 x 2500.
Nevertheless, they are perfect for manual operation. The sliding cover opens easily and smoothly to provide maximum clear opening for easy access.
Sliding roof hatches have either sold or a glazed lid. The glazed option provides excellent daylight for users below and an architectural talking point.
Fixed rails are generally used for larger sizes up to 3000 x 3000. However we can also manufacture larger sizes in certain circumstances.
The fixed rails provide a maximum clear opening ideal for equipment, tools and personnel access. The external rail is fixed down onto the roof and provides structural support for the lid.
Thermally Broken Roof Hatch
All our Roof Hatches include thermal breaks. Hence the excellent energy conservation properties and substantially reduced internal condensation and frost formation.
In addition this reduces thermal conductivity and consequently the heat loss.
Same technology is used in manufacture of Surespan’s Roof Hatches.
Sliding roof hatches are designed to withstand high winds and snow loads. As a result, they operate during any weather conditions.
The new thermally broken roof hatch opens horizontally on fixed or telescopic rails. Additionally, it features the unique ‘lift-off’ unseated action. As a result the hatch is sealed and secure when closed.
Telescopic sliding covers are ideal for smaller sizes access. Especially for those, that only require access for maintenance personnel. These units are available in sizes up to 30 x 98 inches.
Nevertheless, they are still perfect for manual operation. The sliding cover opens easily and smoothly and provides maximum clear opening. Although the sliding hatches are mainly used for personnel access, they also perform well as a form of building ventilation and airflow control.
For larger sizes we would recommend fixed rails. Fixed rails provide a maximum clear opening, which is ideal for equipment, tools and personnel access. The external rail is fixed down onto the roof and provides structural support for the lid.
Brush seals around the front and side ensure that no roof debris can interfere with the mechanism. Moreover, the external fixed rail provides an enhanced support for larger sliding covers. The thermally broken lid is filled with polyisocyanurate insulation offering an excellent U-value of 0.43 W/m2K.
